There may be too much traffic on the mail server. Consider moving the mail server to another computer. |

Increase the memory allocated to the mail server program. |

Check your DNS service. Since the mail server relies on DNS service, if your DNS service is slow, your mail service will appear slow. You may need to upgrade to a faster, higher-fidelity DNS service. |

Your TCP/IP preferences file may be damaged. Locate the TCP/IP Prefs file in the Preferences folder in the System Folder on your server's startup disk, and throw it away. Restart your server. A new, empty preferences file is created. (You need to reconfigure your TCP/IP control panel.) |
